    FAQs

I’ve never talked to anyone. I’m used to handling things on my own. I’m nervous about therapy.

People who ask for help know when they need it and have the courage to reach out. Everyone needs help now and then. In our work together, I’ll help you explore and identify your strengths and how to implement them to reduce the influence of the problems you are facing.

I have seen people do silly things under hypnosis. Is that true? Can that happen?

No. You will not be made to do anything you do not want to do while under hypnosis. Everything is completely voluntary, and you are still in complete control of your body.

    Can hypnosis work with kids?

It can, but at times it is less effective with younger children. I only treat children using hypnosis on a case by case basis after speaking to both the child and the parent, and I will not use hypnosis on children under the age of ten.

Will this work in just one session?

Many people find a lot of relief from whatever condition they are suffering from in only one or two sessions. Since I am a firm believer in follow through and therapy, however, I feel that often times these gains are only temporary if you do not do any follow up or maintenance work (therapy along with the hypnosis). For that reason, I require a minimum of a 5 sessions commitment to see actual true gains and benefits.

    Does this work for everybody?

Unfortunately, this is not possible to say in a general FAQs page. Everyone’s circumstances are unique to them and it is impossible to make a statement such as “this one treatment works for everyone” Hypnosis, however, has been very successful in treating a wide range of conditions including ARFID. There are many factors that go into whether or not treatment is effective. Prior to starting, Kelly will go over many of these factors with you. If she feels that hypnosis is not right for you, she can offer you a variety of other treatment options that you may be better suited for. That is why Kelly is so unique. Her blend of extensive medical education as a speech pathologist as well as her training using hypnosis can help her to guide you to the best treatment options out there.

Is there anything dangerous about hypnosis?

No. There is nothing dangerous about hypnosis. Hypnosis is calming and relaxing, and most find the experience extremely enjoyable.

Will this be covered by insurance?

Hypnosis sessions are private pay only. Kelly will be happy to speak with you about payment options as she is dedicated to helping you get the services you need.
