About 52.9 million people (21% of US adults, NAMI) experienced mental illness in 2020 and about 20% of these cases are due to anxiety, making anxiety the most common of mental disorders.

Although we all experience some form on anxiety (such as when we’re taking a test or when public speaking), an anxiety disorder occurs “when feelings of intense fear and distress become overwhelming and prevent us from doing everyday activities” (NAMI).

There are many different types of anxiety disorders but individuals with anxiety disorders generally experience one or more of the following symptoms (NAMI):

    • Increased heart rate
    • Increased sweating, tremors, and/or twitches
    • Shortness of breath
    • Headaches, fatigue, and/or insomnia
    • Upset stomach, frequent urination and/or diarrhea
    • Feelings of apprehension or dread
    • Feeling tense or jumpy
    • Restlessness or irritability
    • Anticipating the worst
    • Being watchful for signs of danger

So, How Can Hypnosis Help with Anxiety?

Anxiety can affect your work, promotions, income, sales, social life, and a variety of other areas of your world making life less satisfying. While hypnosis isn’t a quick fix, hypnosis, alongside their current regimen, can help guide the individual to achieve their goal and can typically help the individual see results in a much quicker timeframe. It can help you end the battle with yourself and your willpower; it can help ease the fight or struggle you may be having with yourself and make the process simpler and more enjoyable.

Here are a few examples of how hypnosis can support specific anxiety related goals.

    • Hypnosis can teach you valuable techniques that will aid you in bringing a sense of peace during anxious times
    • Hypnosis can help you feel more confident in places such as your professional life
    • Hypnosis can bring an aura of powerfulness to situations such as public speaking

Who is a candidate for hypnosis?

The best candidates for hypnosis are people who are highly motivated to make these changes in their life right now. It will only work for people who have a deep intrinsic desire for change. It will not work, for example, for someone whose spouse or parent wants them to change.
